Life-giver and would arise at His call to the ultimate healing that is
promised to those who believe.

But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which
are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.

For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which
sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive
and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent [precede] them
which are asleep.

For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice
of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall
rise first:

Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in
the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the
Lord.

Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
1 Thessalonians 4:13-18.

Sleep and rest in Jesus, how comforting the thought--and the reality.

We tend to think of a long lapse of time when we remember loved ones that
have passed to their rest long ago.  But to the one who sleeps in Jesus
there is no such dimension of passing time.  Since there is no conscious
thought there is no consciousness of passing time between death and the
Second Coming of Jesus, though on earth it be measured in years.  The Bible
describes it as the "twinkling of an eye."  So far as the one who is asleep
in Jesus is concerned it is just a matter of closing the eyes in death and
the next moment opening them again and looking into the face of Jesus.
Raised to a new life, completely whole, totally restored mind soul and body
to a life that measures with the life of God. Frank knew that the life we
now live is but the shadow of the true life we were created to live.

There is an empty saddle and many empty hearts.  It makes it a lot easier
to say "Goodbye, Frank" knowing that he rests in the sure and certain hope
of the resurrection-to be raised to a glorious reunion with his loved ones.
Think, family and friends, what that means to us who grieve today!  We
shall one day gather again to share, and praise, and tell stories!  Of
horses?  We will ride the horses!

Truly, let us comfort one another with the encouraging words of promise.
